INTRODUCTION

Rigtech Independent Limited offer a number of training courses related to the development of drilling rig personnel.

The company is committed to furnishing and presenting high quality and coherent course material to it’s customers.

Our training courses are delivered by experienced rig personnel and are designed to teach personnel to work efficiently and accurately.

There is a shortage of skills in the drilling industry, particularly in the field of maintenance and drilling equipment technical skills. Rigtech Independent aim to pass on the skills learnt to the younger generation and to this aim are able to provide training courses specifically in relation to drilling rigs and rig equipment.

A number of courses are accredited by the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) and can be presented at the Rigtech offices in Aberdeen or UAE, Client offices, or third party venues worldwide.

STRUCTURE OF COURSES

THE COURSES ARE ARRANGED IN FIVE LEVELS

1. INTRODUCTORY

Introductory courses for new hands and personnel with lesser experience.

2. OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE DISCIPLINES (MECHANIC, ELECTRICIAN, SUB SEA ENGINEER)

Professional development courses for persons with limited experience.

3. TECHNICAL (WELL CONTROL EQUIPMENT, HYDRAULICS, SCR AND VFD DRIVES, ETC.)

The operation and maintenance of specific types of equipment with a greater level of detail.

4. INSPECTION (CRANES, JACKING GEAR, THERMAL IMAGING, ETC.)

For experienced personnel and aimed at improving their knowledge of Standards and Regulatory compliance and ensuring personnel reach a suitable level of level of technical competence in a specific field.

5. INSPECTION (RIG INSPECTION WORKSHOP)

For experienced personnel and aimed at attaining a level of expertise throughout the whole of a drilling rig that enables them to gain an internationally recognised certificate as a competent rig inspector able to audit and evaluate the condition of any rig.

COURSES AVAILABLE

AN INTRODUCTION TO DRILLING AND DRILLING RIGS – 5 DAYS

For personnel new to the drilling industry. The course outlines the drilling process, the types of rig and the equipment used. It also has an emphasis on safety, safety management systems and technical safety.

At the end of the course personnel will have a basis of how to drill wells and operate equipment safely.

RIGS FOR MECHANICS

This course is aimed at those personnel who wish to take up the role as Motorman, Assistant Mechanic and Mechanic.

It leads on from the introductory course and deals with the Mechanical maintenance of equipment in more detail.

RIGS FOR ELECTRICIANS

This course is aimed at those personnel who wish to take up the role as Assistant Electrician and Electrician.

It leads on from the introductory course and deals with the Electrical maintenance of equipment in more detail.

It provides a basis of electrical equipment common in the drilling industry, including Generators, AC and DC motors and motor controllers as well as switchboard maintenance, electrical safety and electrical equipment in hazardous areas.

RIGS FOR SUB SEA ENGINEERS

This course is aimed at those personnel who wish to take up the role as Assistant Sub Sea engineer and Sub Sea engineer.

It leads on from the introductory course and deals with the operation and maintenance of well control equipment in more detail. It includes both Surface and Sub Sea well control equipment.

TECHNICAL COURSES, WHICH INCLUDE;

1.Surface well control equipment

Including surface Blow Out Preventers and BOP Control units, Choke valves, High Pressure hoses, Instrumentation.

2.Sub Sea well control equipment

Including Sub Sea Blow Out Preventers and BOP Control units, Choke valves, High Pressure hoses, Instrumentation

3.Hydraulics for drilling rigs

Including such equipment as Iron Roughnecks and Top drive hydraulics

4. SCR drives

The theory and rig applications of SCRs driving large DC motors

5.VFD drives

The theory and rig applications of VFD drives on AC motors.

INSPECTION COURSES – THESE COURSES INCLUDE:

1.Cranes

The inspection of offshore cranes

2.Jacking gear

The inspection of the hull elevating systems on jack up installations.

3.Thermal imaging

The practical application of thermal imaging on a drilling rig.

INSPECTION, RIG INSPECTION WORKSHOP

This course is a top level course aimed at experienced personnel which will give an appreciation of the Standards and Regulations applied in the drilling industry. It will pass on the knowledge gained through the Rigtech survey work and will highlight those areas of equipment problems and management deficiencies that we regularly find.

TRAINING VENUES

Courses can be delivered at a Rigtech facility, a clients training department or at an outside hotel or conference centre. The flexibility means we can keep client travel costs for their own personnel down to a minimum.
